Meet the Maker of Organic Sol Kitchen: Jamie V - AKA - Auntie Jam Jam
I was born in New Mexico—but my connection to nature didn’t begin there. Fate carried me far from my homeland, and my story truly started to unfold elsewhere.
I didn’t grow up surrounded by desert landscapes or the traditional practices rooted there, but that didn’t mean they weren’t a part of me. My ancestry—my indigenous and sister roots—lived quietly within my body, shaping me in ways I didn’t yet understand. For a long time, it felt like something just beneath the surface. Present, but unnamed.
Instead, my childhood unfolded along the sun-soaked shores of Florida. My world was ocean air, sandy beaches, and crystal-clear springs. Nature wasn’t something I visited—it was something I belonged to. I was the person stopping to watch insects, observing animals, and feeling deeply connected to the living world around me. At the time, I didn’t question it. It was simply who I was.
Looking back, I see that connection differently now.
It was instinct. It was memory. It was the beginning of a path I would eventually come to recognize.
Life has a way of guiding you exactly where you need to be, even when it doesn’t make sense at first. By what felt like fate, I found my way back out west—and I’ve now spent nearly 20 years here, learning the beauty, rhythm, and spirit of the land in my own way. Over time, that connection deepened into something more intentional.
It was within the last four years that I stepped fully into focused study—learning under herbalists and apothecary entrepreneurs. That time gave structure to what I had always felt. I learned how to work with plants, how to formulate, and how to approach this work with discipline and deep respect.
But more than anything, I learned how to listen.
Because what I came to understand is this:
This path isn’t just something I chose. It’s something I was called to.
Today, my work is rooted in honoring that call. As a curandera, I approach herbalism not just as a craft, but as a relationship—one that connects the earth, the body, and the spirit. Every formulation, every blend, every product I create is an extension of that connection. It is intentional. It is grounded. It is made with deep respect for both tradition and the natural world.
This is more than making products.
It’s about carrying something forward.
It’s about honoring where I come from, even if I didn’t grow up fully immersed in it.
It’s about returning to myself—fully, honestly, and without hesitation.
This is the heart behind what I create.
This is the story behind the maker.
And just as important as what I create is how I choose to share it. I believe that the gifts of the Earth—the plants, the healing, the support they offer—are a birthright. They are not meant to be out of reach.
I am part of the community I serve, and that shapes everything I do. Affordability is not an afterthought for me—it is a priority. I am committed to making my offerings as accessible as possible, while still honoring the integrity, quality, and care that each product deserves.
Because healing should not be a luxury.
It should be something we can all return to.
